Research recently published in the American Journal Case Report includes the story of a woman in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, who felt a ‘pop’ in her chest while having intercourse with her husband. The unnamed 45-year-old woman was rushed to the emergency room with stabbing chest pains, nausea, and shortness of breath.
Doctors determined that the position she was in when she orgasmed, with her legs pressed into her chest, contributed to an aortic rip…a condition that has instantly killed 40% of sufferers on average. Doctors were able to treat the woman without surgery and she was discharged after three days of treatment.
