Time now for Paw... a band out of lawrence kansas who formed in the 90s and were almost immediately hailed as the next nirvana. This caused an immediate record label feeding frenzy and a bidding war... which is almost always the downfall of a bands career. Only because bidding wars raise weasle expectations so high that at the slightest sign of anything less than gargantuanly huge numbers of platinum records being earned, like the soulless testicle free cowards they are record execs panic and bail on the band. Thats exactly what happened to Paw two albums into their 3 album deal with a&m who by the way did the same thing to my band ...
I saw paw as a kid in london opening up for tool and they were amazingly epically awesome.. that they didnt go on to become the next nirvana is only because someone dropped the ball.
Ther lead singer mark published a book of poetry a while ago now teaches at the university of Kansas...and In 1997, their bass player Charles Bryan became "the fastest human in suborbital freefall reaching a mindblowing speed of 327 mph" but other than that... not much of note went on with these guys past the 90's so lets pay tribute to them with their Jam Jessie. A song about their lead singer's dog.
