The dog that was found Saturday that had been shot an dumped alive in a trash bag has died. An oilfield worker found her Saturday afternoon as he opened a gate off FM 3083 and Jefferson Chemical to access the oilfield road. That is when he noticed a trash bag moving. Inside that bag was the young dog bloody and wrapped in a towel.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was contacted who then contacted the Montgomery County Animal Control. The dog was then transported to the Conroe Emergency Animal Clinic on West Dallas, a 24-hour clinic who also treated “Buck” when he was found shot a little over a month ago. The dog was accidently named Penney at the clinic and retained the name.
She was shot one time in the neck and had lost a large amount of blood. Penney was stabilized over night but died just before noon on Sunday.
Captain Tim Holifield, head of the Montgomery County Animal Cruelty Unit is investigating this, the third shooting this year of a dog. One person is in the Montgomery County Jail on an unrelated charge who is also a suspect on Buttons , another dog that was found shot.
He is asking for anyone with information on any of these shooting to contact Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP. It is a felony in Texas to shoot a non-livestock animal.
