A Louisiana school has launched itself into the national arena but not for its academics. The Dehli Charter School is currently underfire for a new policy that forces any girl that school officials suspect is pregnant to take a pregnancy test.
If the girl is found to be pregnant, she will no longer be able to attend classes at the school … and will have to be home-schooled.
Not surprisingly, this has caused a great deal of controversy and now the American Civil Liberties Union has gotten involved.
The ACLU sent the Delhi Charter School a letter asking the school to change its policy or they will consider legal action “including filing a lawsuit and or complaint with the appropriate state or federal enforcement agencies.”
