OK..so I've been a mild fan of The Airborne Toxic Event ever since I got one of those free iTunes cards at Starbucks that included one of their songs, "Half of Something Else". Here's the video for the song, and one thing I noticed about this video that is similar to their live performance..they look happy, they look like they're having fun.
Gradually, I downloaded more and more by them, and am especially into "Timeless", the first single off of their latest album, "Such Hot Blood", that came out today (!!!).
The lyrics combined with lead singer Mikel Jollett's voice form a deep and unique musical bond. It's a touching sound. They killed at the House of Blues last night, it was such a fun performance...and it was like the rest of the crowd felt the same way I did, like we were all a part of this awesome party that only we knew about.
Thanks to Listener Mike for sending me this picture this morning. He captured a great moment in the show, Anna Bulbrook (viola, keyboards, tambourine, backing vocals) got on bass player Noah Harmon's shoulders while playing the tambourine while Mikel was climbing the rafters of the House of Blues. Airborne, I think I love you.
