Hey Guys,
Today is Round 2 of my Chemotherapy treatment to remove my "Dark Passenger" from my chest. If you have not heard by now I have been diagnosed with Hodgskins Lymphoma Stage 2. The doctors at MD Anderson have been amazing and I cannot praise them enough on this entire experience.
The 1st round of chemo went rather well on Friday, 02-15-2013, I had very lil nausea on Saturday and Sunday and no fever all weekend which was really addressed prior to me getting the drugs in my system. The nausea came around on Monday morning but thankfully it was bearable. My main side effect came nearly 10 days later when I developed Mouth Sores on the sides of my tongue and the inner side of my bottom lip. Even though this was mentioned I was not expecting this so late after treatment. These sores are not due to me not cleaning my mouth which some of you may believe but moreso that the treatment drugs attack the fast developing cells that formulate in the mouth causing the sores. Thanks to my dentist Dr. Charlie Dyer for the prescription rinse and topical ointment to help with the sores. Also I received an awesome remedy from my boss that mixes milk of magnesia with liquid benadryl to help coat the mouth and alleviate the sores. It took a couple of days but today the sores are gone and now hopefully I can stay ahead of it in the future with these rinses and remedies.
So this afternoon I will be back at MD Anderson to take on round 2 of chemotherapy and start the two week process all over again. I cannot thank all of you listeners for the love and support you have given me with emails and facebook messages just giving your prayers and good thoughts my way.
This is a journey and a piece of my strength and courage is coming from you guys and your support!!!
Thanks
Doug
