Guest: Elizabeth Vallette, director of USO Houston.
Elizabeth was a captain in the army and she is now dedicating her "civilian life" to the United Service Organization. The USO's mission is to set-up “pieces of home” for our armed forces stationed abroad but they also provide a lot of services in country. Since Elizabeth spent some time in Iraq, we also discussed the recent change in laws affecting women in combat.
Also interesting to anyone wearing the uniform: the Rodeo is having their Armed Forces Appreciation Day on February 27th. Any soldier in uniform will get in for free. The USO is also
setting up a tent at the cook-off and all you need to get in that exclusive party is your service ID. Go to http://affiliates.uso.org/houston/ for all the info you need.
