Beer notes: Every year at the end of summer there is a one-time special brew of Troubadour Magma in which one aspect of the recipe is changed. In the edition of 2011 American Cascade hop was used for 'dryhopping'. For the edition of 2012 'dryhopping' is done with Japanese hops: Sorachi Ace.
This hop has its own character and gives less fruity aroma to the beer in comparison with the American aroma hop varieties. We were curious to see what this would bring to our Troubadour Magma, just as it is characterized by its explosion of fruity flavours from American Simcoe hops.
The result is amazing. Troubadour Magma Special Edition 2012 retains much of the character of Triple IPA of Troubadour Magma but the dry-hopping with Sorachi Ace hops provides a very different pleasant flavor of wood, almost like it has been stored in wooden barrels, and the properties of the yeast become more expressive. Taste the difference yourself !
