Smash Mouth And Smashing Pumpkins Bump Heads Over "Shrek"

Billy Corgan made a bold claim on his Instagram story that Smash Mouth claims is bogus. Corgon posted that Smashing Pumpkins was asked to provide a song that would soundtrack "Shrek’s" final scene. The Pumpkin's 2000 track “Untitled” would’ve played during the scene that ultimately featured Smash Mouth’s “I’m a Believer” cover.

But Smash Mouth has disputed Corgan's claim, saying Dreamworks asked them repeatedly to do the song after they turned down the offer multiple times. “If it feeds Billy’s ego to think they were first let him think that,” the band tweeted.
